Rumi's home office is in the city of San Juan de Lurigancho, a community outside of Lima, Peru. San Juan de Lurigancho is a district in Lima, located in the area known as Cono Este. With a current population that exceeds a million people, it is the nation's most populated district.
The key issues facing those living in the slums of San Juan de Lurigancho are:
- poor health - sanitation issues - no running water or sewage system - unsafe living conditions - lack of job opportunities - inadequate scholastic education - parent abandonment or parental disinterest - spousal and child abuse - delinquency and street crime - a lack of community leadership and community identity
Evangelism At the very heart of cross-cultural missions, evangelism is the work of clearly communicating the gospel to non-believers. Proclaiming the gospel in its fullest sense also includes the ongoing communication of the claims of Christ on the life of believers. RUMI is committed to working with the local communities to develop evangelism programs and reach the children and youth.
... for I was hungy, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in. Matthew 25:35

Jose Navarro, the Pastor's Heart As the Director of RUMI God has called us to preach and to
reach out to the youth of Peru, but we have limited resources to meet
our basic needs. Our desire is to build our own facility for workshops,
Bible study and community outreach. Currently, we rent a very small
space for Sunday meetings and it's difficult to meet or teach without
an adequate building.
My heart's desire is to have this place
for the youth and teens to call their own 'home away from home'
protecting them from drugs, abuse and alcohol. Our vision extends
beyond the walls of a building into the community... ministering in
neighboring villages and small towns ... imparting to them the new life
that is available to them in Jesus. With your help, we can make this a
reality.
